Your Passport

I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Monday morning the 15th of May 2023, and this is your friend Angus Buchan with a thought for today. We started in Proverbs 15 and I'm reading verse 24:

"The way of life winds upward for the wise,
That he may turn away from hell below."

Then we go to Philippians 3:20:

“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Then the last one is Colossians 3:1-2:

"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth."

Have you got your passport in order? How many times, when you want to go on a trip, you look for your passport and find that it's expired?! You need to get your credentials in order... Folks this is not our home here on earth, you and I are simply passing through - have you got your credentials in order? What are our credentials? Well, we believe that Jesus Christ is the risen son of God and not only do we believe it but we also live it. Now, remember the thief on the cross - he left it pretty late, didn't he, before he got his credentials and order. However, I believe we shall see him in heaven, just as Jesus promised him that he would. Make sure that all your family and friends have got valid passports, we don't want to leave anybody behind.

Jesus spoke more about heaven than about this earth. You and I are simply travellers in a foreign land... We're sojourners, we are just passing through - Don't get too comfortable. Can you imagine the welcome when we finally arrive home in heaven? When Jesus is standing there, all the saints, myriads of angels and your own family that have gone ahead before you. Went Jesus says:

"Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord."
Matthew 25:21 

Do you remember that old song, it goes something like this:

This world is not my home
I'm just a-passing through
My treasures are laid up
Somewhere beyond the blue

The angels beckon me
From heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home
In this world anymore

If heaven's not my home
Then Lord, what will I do?
