It's in the Name
A very good morning to you - I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, 8th September 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel."
Isaiah 7:14
“And he called His name Jesus.”
Matthew 1:25
Oh, what a beautiful name!
“This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.”
Acts 19:17
At that Name, every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. You see, “Immanuel” translated means, “God with us.” God came down from Heaven to Earth and dwelt amongst us in the form of a Man, His name was Jesus. God worked unusual miracles by the hand of the apostle Paul because Paul knew the Man behind the name. The whole world knows the name of Jesus. It is the most famous name that has ever been proclaimed. They might know the name but do they know the Person behind the name? If you read the account in Acts 19, you will see that there were seven sons of Sceva. They saw the miracles that Paul was performing in the name of Jesus. They saw that where handkerchiefs and aprons that had been brought from Paul, were put on people who were physically sick and possessed by evil spirits, were immediately delivered. They tried to do the same thing and cast out a demon in the name of Jesus, but the demon said to them, “Paul, I know, Jesus, I know, but who are you?” The demon in the man attacked the seven sons of Sceva and nearly killed them. You see, it is one thing to know the name but it is quite another thing to know the Person behind the name!
Paul, however, knew Jesus intimately. We see in Philippians 3:10 that he says, “Oh that I may know Him.” We need to know Jesus. Today, get to know the person of Jesus, and signs and wonders and miracles will happen through you when you pray that prayer in faith.
Have a wonderful day and remember, it is in the Name!
Jesus bless you and goodbye.
