Pray For The Persecuted

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 9th of February, 2023 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
Romans 1:16

Yesterday, I received a message from a man living in Iran. He has been receiving the Thought For The Day for the last two years. He is teaching the people farming and agriculture and is being a witness for Jesus Christ in a country which does not allow Christianity. He has led people to Jesus and he is using this little tool as a message to reach out to the lost. We really need to pray for the persecuted church my dear friend.

God is moving very powerfully all over the earth at this critical time. We need to pray for more boldness, for more courage and most of all for the love of Christ, for those especially who are persecuting God’s people. One of the greatest persecutors in the early church became its greatest ambassador. That’s right - Saul of Tarsus became Paul, the Apostle. Today, let's pray for the young students at school and university who are being persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ, let's pray for the factory worker when he goes to work and is mocked by his fellowmen because of his stand for Jesus Christ, let's pray for the politician, that he will stand up boldly in parliament and say, “There is no other god but the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob." And most of all, let's pray for the pastors that they do not preach a compromised message from the pulpit to please the congregation. Let us stand tall. 

In Ephesians 6:14, the Lord says, “Stand, for the battle is the Lord’s.” I am so encouraged today to hear that the Gospel is going out all over the world. Do you remember that old song that we used to sing? It goes something like this:

All over the world, 
The Spirit is moving,
All over the world,
The way the prophet said it would be, is moving.

All over the world,
There is a mighty revelation,
Of the glory of the Lord,
As the waters cover the sea.

Go out today and stand tall for Jesus Christ!
