Success

I greet you in Jesus' precious Name. It is Saturday morning, the 2nd of July 2023, and this is your friend Angus Buchan with a thought for today. We start with Psalm 112 and I'm reading from verse 1:

"Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who delights greatly in His commandments.
His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches will be in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever."

Then we go to the New Testament, Matthew 6:33:

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

 Success is not a coincidence - it doesn't just happen. It's not luck, no. It comes through walking hand-in-hand with Jesus. You know it's catchy, it's contagious - Jesus is not a loser. He is a winner through and through. Walk with Him daily, talk with him moment-by-moment, imitate Him, and you are bound to succeed in every aspect of your life and ambition. A follower of Jesus Christ started Cadbury's chocolate. Did you know that? Quaker Oats, the porridge that you have in the morning, was also started by a Believer.

The other day I sat with an old gentleman who spoke to me about his life. He is 88 years old. He loves the Lord with a passion - I asked him how he succeeded in life; he is an accountant by profession. He said he was at work one day and watched everybody at lunchtime sit down with a little packet of sandwiches and a cup of tea. They couldn't go home for the meal as time was too short. So after work, he went to the supermarket - he bought some meat patties, bread rolls, tomatoes and some cheese. He went and got a box of ice cream and some cokes, and he went back to his family and said to them: "Tonight, I am going to make supper." They all sat down, and he came through with some beautiful hamburgers, followed by ice cream, a milkshake and a Coke. When they finished eating, he asked them, "How did you like it?" They said: "Dad, we loved it" - That was the birth of the Wimpy fast food chain, which is worldwide today. What is the recipe? The recipe is that Eric loves Jesus passionately, and so do his wife and his family. 

Today imitate the Lord, and you will succeed. God bless you and goodbye.
