It is Finished

It is Sunday morning, 19th June 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”
Acts 3:26

Do you know that there has only ever been one person, in the history of this world, who can turn us away from our iniquities (immoral behaviour). His name is Jesus Christ, He is the only One who died for our sins. When He said on the cross, “It is finished!” in John 19:30, He meant it. Jesus paid the full price for our sin. Therefore, because He died for us He has the authority to say, like He has said to millions of people before us, “Your sins are forgiven. Go and sin no more.” Just like a referee has the authority in an international rugby or football match, his decision is final, or like a high court judge, once He makes His ruling, it is final. 

If we ask for forgiveness today from our Lord, and sincerely mean it, He is able and willing to forgive us of every one of our sins. John 1:9. Why don’t you ask Him today to set you free? Why don’t you lay down that 50kg bag of cement you've been carrying on your back for so long?

Just say, “Lord, I am sorry. I made a mistake. Please forgive me.” And he will do it.
