Kusasa

A very good morning to you! It is Sunday morning, 3rd of July 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“Lord, make me to know my end,

And what is the measure of my days,

That I may know how frail I am.”

“Certainly every man at his best state is but vapour.”

Psalm 39:4-5

And then we go straight to James 1:11:

“For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes.”

Life is but a vapour. That is what the word of God is telling us, this Sunday morning, that it is here today and gone tomorrow. Don’t put off something that you can do today - Phone, write or best of all, visit that person that you have an issue with today because tomorrow doesn’t belong to us... It might even be too late.

You know, our farm is situated on the edge of a plateau and there is a huge valley right next to us. Often, very early in the morning, the valley is completely shrouded - covered with a blanket of mist and you cannot see anything. When the sun rises, it burns off the vapour, that blanket of mist and in a few minutes and it is gone forever. Now Jesus says our lives here on earth are just as short and just as fragile. We do not have time to waste, we need to get our houses in order.

Do not say, “Tomorrow”. In Zulu, we say, “Kusasa. Uma iNkosi isivumela sizokwenza lockhu nalokhu kusasa.”

“If the Lord allows, I will do this and this tomorrow” but you see, procrastination is a terrible thing. You cannot keep on putting off something - you need to do it today because you may have regrets. Today is the only day that we have, tomorrow might be too late. So today make a definite effort to put everything in order and then when the Lord calls you, you will be ready to go in peace.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful Sunday, goodbye.
