Death Defeated

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 10th of July 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

Acts 9:4-5:

"Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting."

It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Jesus said in Matthew 10:28:

"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

Some people seem to fear the devil and his demons more than they fear the living God. I want to tell you today that the devil is a mere creation. He cannot even create a storm in a teacup. He had his neck broken on the Cross of Calvary. When Jesus said, "It is finished", He meant it. He defeated death once and for all. On the third day, He rose from the dead. Satan is a bully and a liar and a thief.

John 10:10

"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

Don't give him any place in your life.

You see on that road to Damascus, Jesus turned a potential mass murderer into a saint that wrote two-thirds of the New Testament. At that moment, Saul of Tarsus became Paul the Apostle. He did it in mere seconds and He can do it for you and me today. Please don't allow the devil to fill you with fear.

In 2 Timothy 1:7, the Lord says I have not given you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

I remember reading a story about Smith Wigglesworth when he was touring South Africa many years ago. He was sleeping on a farm somewhere in a rural area. In the middle of the night, he heard a horrible noise in the corner of his room. He leaned over and lit a candle, and in the corner of the room, he said he saw an apparition, an ugly demon. When he saw him he said, "Oh, is it just you?", he blew the candle out, turned over and went back to sleep. That was his regard for the devil. The devil cannot hurt you. He can only tell lies. Start to believe the word of God. Jesus said, "I will never leave you and I will never forsake you."

Have a wonderful Sunday.
God bless you and goodbye.
