Satisfied

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 27th of July, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We start in the Book of Proverbs 27:20:

"Hell and Destruction are never full; So the eyes of man are never satisfied."  "All things are full of labor;

Man cannot express it.
The eye is not satisfied with seeing,
Nor the ear filled with hearing."
Ecclesiastes 1:8

Never satisfied! The definition of greed is taking more than you actually need. We need to be so careful that we don't become greedy because a lot of the things that we have accumulated we can't take to Heaven with us. I want to say to you, how much is enough? You know the old saying, "How long is a piece of string?" It's as long as you make it!

When John Wesley left this earth, he left 6 pounds in his account, 1 pound for each of the pallbearers who would carry his coffin and a few silver teaspoons. That's all he left. That man wrote many books, and all the money that he got from those books, he gave back to the poor.

George Müller started a massive children's home for over ten thousand children. Millions of pounds passed through his hands, yet when he died, he left a chair, a table, a bed and a cupboard. That's all he left on this earth, but when they were doing the accounts and finalising everything with the Bristol Children's Home, they saw there was an anonymous donor who, month after month, for years and years, put money in. When they did their finalising, they realised it was actually George Müller himself. 1 Timothy 6:6 says:

"Now godliness with contentment is great gain."

Be satisfied with what you have got. Be thankful that the Lord has blessed you, but don't let greed come into your life.

My brother once visited an old gentleman who had made a fortune through sportswear and equipment and was a multi-millionaire. My brother sat across the table and said, "Wow, you have done so well. You have been so successful." But the old gentleman looked up from the table and said, "Yes," he said, "I built an empire, but it cost me my health. Now, I am trying to buy my health back, but it's not working."

You and I need to be satisfied with what God has given us; that is all we need.

Jesus bless you and have a lovely day,
Goodbye.
