Single-minded

A very good morning to you - I greet you in Jesus’ precious name. It is Monday morning, the 26th of September 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
James 1:6

“He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”
Matthew 12:30

We cannot live this life undecided. Jesus makes it very clear in Revelation 3:15. He says:

“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.”

Now, those are strong words and they are coming from the Master, Himself. We have got to start becoming a people that are decided. A faint heart never gained a fair maiden. Now for the younger people, it means if you do not become single-minded, you will never win a beautiful girl to be your wife. We must start becoming more intentional. If we want to succeed in this life, we must let our “yes” be yes and our “no” be no.

I remember taking some young boys up the mighty Drakensberg Mountains many years ago. We were carrying all our kit with us because we were sleeping on top of the mountain. Some of the boys were focused, but some were fooling around, I remember one young boy, his name was Spider, he was probably the smallest and the lightest of all of them. He knew in his heart that the only way he was going to get to the top of this huge mountain was to stick close behind me and conserve his energy and remain focused.

Needless to say, those fooling around started falling apart when we were nearing the summit. When the oxygen was getting a bit less and it was getting extremely tight and steep, they needed help with their backpacks, etc. but not Spider. No, no, Spider was getting stronger. Why? Because he was focused and because he had his mind fixed on what he was doing.

Make up your mind today who you are going to serve before it is too late.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.
Goodbye.
