Turned Upside Down

A very good morning to you, I greet you this morning in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, 28th of August 2002, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. If we go to the New Testament to the Book of Acts:

“These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.”

Acts 17:6

Wow, what a title to be known by: “These who have turned the world upside down”. And then we go to Revelation 3:16, the last book in the Bible, Jesus says:

“So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.”

Those are very strong words spoken by the Master himself. You see, people don't have to like us but they must respect us. Many years ago, I was preaching, down in the Eastern Cape, to a group of farmers at a Christian conference. At halftime, we were going to the bathroom and an old farmer walked in, he looked at me and said, “Young man, when you are preaching, you don't have to sweat so much. You don't have to try so hard.” “Oh”, I said, “Oh sir, you ain't seen nothing yet. Wait for the second half!” You know, if there's no passion, no excitement in your witness for the Lord, why should the world turn around and look to Jesus?

Now I want to clarify something here - I'm not talking about Bible bashing, no, because people are struggling. They are really struggling at the moment with incredible pressure: the pressures of life, some people dealing with old age, other people dealing with loved ones that they have lost and others dealing with the pressure of society. Paul and Silas loved the people and spoke about the love of Jesus Christ, that is what turns the world upside down - the Gospel! The good news of Jesus Christ is for free. You don't have to buy it, you don't have to earn it, you just have to receive it and believe it!

People are lost. People are afraid. Tell them today about your Good Friend, the Lord Jesus Christ, and you'll see a smile come on their faces.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful restful Sunday.
God bless you and goodbye.
