A Little Bit Down?

A very good morning to you, I greet you in Jesus’ precious name!

It is Monday morning, 29th August 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“Let God arise,
Let His enemies be scattered;
Let those also who hate Him flee before Him.”

Psalm 68:1

And then we go to the Book of Numbers:

“So it was, whenever the ark set out, that Moses said:
“Rise up, O Lord!
Let Your enemies be scattered,
And let those who hate You flee before You.”

Numbers 10:35

Let our enemies be scattered before us! Romans 8:31, one of my favourite verses:

“If God is for us, who can be against us?”

I want to ask you a personal question this morning - Are you feeling a little bit down, are you feeling a little depressed? Are you saying to yourself, “I shouldn't feel like this because I am a child of God”? Well, the Oxford Dictionary explains the word depression as severe despondency and dejection. You see the battle is not in the heart, the battle is in the mind.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (fleshly) but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds”

2 Corinthians 10:4

Just because you and I are followers of Jesus, does not mean that we are exempt from feeling down and we are not alone in this battle. You see the devil will try and tell you today, that you are the only one who's feeling a bit. No, not at all. Do you know that some of Jesus' greatest generals also suffered from bouts of depression? We start off with David, that's right? The apple of the Lord's eye, a man after His own heart, and yet in Psalm 55:6, he says:

“Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away …”

What about that great general, Elijah? Elijah is the patron Saint of the Israeli army, a strong man, he's my hero in the Old Testament. Yet he prayed that he might die - He said, “It is enough. Take my life.” And he said that just after the greatest victory he had ever had, in 1 Kings 19:4. I want to say to you today that we don't live by our feelings, we are living by faith in God! In Hebrews 13:5 the Lord says:

“I will never leave you. And I will never forsake you.”

I want to tell you when I have come back from some of amazing campaigns, where I've seen the power of God move, nature come into line with the spoken word of God - I've seen healings, I've seen people born again, by the multitudes, yet I can hit a low time. Oh yes! And that's when I come aside and I say two words… "But God”.

So get up this morning, dust yourself off and keep on because you and I have a glorious future in Heaven.

God bless you and have a wonderful day,
Goodbye.
