Temptation
It is Saturday morning, the 11th of February, 2023, and I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! This is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
1 Corinthians 10:13
God always makes a way out for us Christians. He will not allow us to be tempted above our ability to handle that temptation but will always make a way to escape. Never think that you have no other option other than the sinful one. By the way, temptation itself is not a sin. Even Jesus was tempted in the desert when He went out to fast and pray for forty days. You will find that in Mark 1:13. It is when we yield to and we succumb to the temptation and we say, “I can’t help it! ” - oh yes we can! Jesus has just told us that we can, but we need to turn around and walk away from that temptation.
If you have a drinking problem and the Lord has set you free, don’t tempt the devil by going into a pub and sitting there and thinking that you can handle it. Run away from it. He will help us. Jesus will never allow you to be pushed past your limit. Each test is an opportunity for us to trust Him even more. He has made a way of escape for every trial that you and I are going through at the moment. We shall be victorious!
Now, what I want to do this morning is I want to pray for you and I want to pray a prayer of faith over you, that God will undertake for you.
Heavenly Father,
Many of us are suffering and we are really struggling with sin in our lives that we just don’t seem to overcome. Lord, I am thinking about unforgiveness. Please give us the grace to forgive that person who has hurt us.
Lord, I am talking about that anger that rises up within us, and we just don’t seem to be able to control it. Lord, in Jesus’ name today, we put it away forever.
That addiction, Lord, alcoholism, drug addiction, Lord, that pornography - today, in Jesus' name, Lord, we desire to walk away from it.
Father, that spirit of fear, please strengthen us and help us to turn from fear to faith. Lord, Your word says in 2 Timothy 1:7, “I have not given you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Today, Lord Jesus, we pray for strength to walk away from that temptation.
Amen.
Have a great Saturday,
God bless you and goodbye.
