Breaking Bread

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning the 13th of February, 2023 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start off in 1 Corinthians 11 and I'm reading from verse 23:

"For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep."

Holy Communion is not to be entered into lightly. It is a sacred reminder of what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross of Calvary. It reminds us it, brings the family closer to God and to each other and brings healing to our bodies, our minds and souls. When should we do it? Well, the answer is often. Where should we do it? Well, in church, our homes and our prayer rooms. In meeting places, at work and in the changing rooms... Who should be eligible to partake? Those who love Jesus Christ and are old enough to understand what the holy sacrament is all about.

Do not partake in an unworthy manner, the Bible tells us because it will bring weakness and sickness and judgement against us. But if you are sincere, oh my dear friend, it brings healing to your body, your mind and your spirit. It brings forgiveness of all of your sins and brings freedom to you and your family. Do it often. Aunty Jill and I do it every single day, as we get the opportunity. Sometimes at breakfast time, sometimes at lunchtime, sometimes it's suppertime - but we do it in remembrance of Him. It is a wonderful thing to do!

I've been to the Upper Room in Jerusalem, where The Last Supper took place. It is an amazing place! Break bread today and every day, until He comes.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, goodbye.
