Through The Trials

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 31st of January, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
Psalm 34:19

Jesus said: 

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” 
John 16:33

You know, just the other night I listened to a beautiful testimony on the television, spoken by Joni Eareckson Tada, the lady who has been paralysed for most of her life. Remember, she dived off a rowing boat into a lake and hit her head on a rock and is completely paralysed from the neck down. She was saying that the Lord does all the sorting out of our characters and our lives here on earth, not in Heaven. She related the story of when they built the temple. The Lord said there would be no fashioning, no cutting, no shaping, and no banging to be done at the site of the temple. It all had to be done at the quarry, so when those big granite blocks were brought up to the temple for the building, they were already perfectly fashioned. They were sized up at the quarry. All the rough edges were taken off before they reached the temple site. Joni Earekson was saying that she believes that all the fashioning is going to be done here on earth so when we get to Heaven, there will be no stone masons there, there will be no need for them. There will be no pain, no tribulation, no sorting out when we get home to be with Jesus, there will be bliss, love, peace and patience and no more tears. 

Today you might feel you are going through such a rough time. Yesterday I spent time with a family that lost their beautiful daughter, a university student when she and her boyfriend had a car crash. The car landed in a quarry full of water and they drowned. We were able to reassure one another that she is in the presence of the Lord now with her boyfriend because they both love Jesus. The time of pain and suffering will finish here on earth. When we get to Heaven it will only be love, peace, patience and joy.

So today, remember it doesn’t matter what you are going through, the Lord is going through it with you. He is going through the fire with you and you are getting ready for home time and what a day that will be.
