Unanswered Questions

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 29th of July, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We start in the Gospel of John 13:7:

“Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.”

Maybe today you have woken up, and there is something in your life and you just don’t understand it. “Lord, I love that person so much and have heard they have gone home to be with you. Why did You take them when they were still so young?” You just don’t understand why it happened. Well, the preacher, J.R. MacDuff, told a beautiful story about the wonderful cedars of Lebanon. They are all over the Bible. You see accounts of these beautiful trees that sheltered animals from the storms, gave the shepherd rest in the heat of the day, and yet the timber man came with his big, sharp axe and cut those trees down. What a tragedy! Those huge logs were floated down to the old port of Joppa, then transported to Jerusalem, where they were formed into beautiful beams and put in the Temple of the Lord, and there they gave glory to God.

We don’t know and don’t often understand why things happen or why you are going through such a rough time. Maybe the Lord is fashioning you and me, perfecting us for home time when we eventually go to the City of God in Heaven, where we will be with the Lord forever. I want to encourage you today not to ask too many questions and not to be afraid to say to someone, “I don’t know the answer, but when I get to Heaven, God will tell me, and then I will understand fully, but until then, I will continue to serve Him, just like the old farmer, Job said,

“Even though He slay me, yet will I still trust Him.”
Job 13:15

I want to tell you today that I have many unanswered questions, but I know one thing: on the great and wonderful day when I meet the Lord, face to face, He will answer every single question. In fact, I won’t even have to ask Him any questions because the answers will be straightforward and waiting for us. So today, if you are going through a time of hardship and there is a fashioning taking place in your life - maybe you have lost a loved one and you are feeling lonely, and you are thinking, “Lord, why did you do that?” Well, I want to tell you that it was time for that loved one to meet the Master and to be part of His eternal plan, but in the meantime, He will give you the strength to take one day at a time, waiting for the wonderful day when we will be together forever in Paradise.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,
Goodbye.
