Use What You Have

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 8th of August, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

 We start in the Book of Exodus 4:1-2:

Then Moses answered and said, “But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.’ So the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand? He said, “A rod.” (A stick).

“The ants are a people not strong,
Yet they prepare their food in the summer;
The rock badgers are a feeble folk,
Yet they make their homes in the crags;
The locusts have no king,
Yet they all advance in ranks;
The spider skillfully grasps with its hands,
And it is in kings’ palaces.”
Proverbs 30:25-28

This morning, my dear friend, I believe the Lord wants to say to you and me, use what you have and do not envy others. If we look at history, Abraham was a farmer, David was a shepherd, Peter was a fisherman, Paul was a tent-maker, Matthew was a tax collector and the Son of God, the Saviour of the world, Jesus Christ, was a carpenter.

We need to get away from this entitlement mentality. “Woe is me! I didn’t have a good opportunity! I did not have a chance!” Every one of these men that I have just mentioned moved mountains for God. There wasn’t one of them that was an academic, as it were, maybe apart from Paul, the Apostle. But I want to say to you today, they used what they had like the ant, like the dassie - the rock badger, like the locust, like the spider. They work with what they have got and what they have in their hands and the Lord multiplies it.

Go out today and tell people about Jesus in your work situation, and you will be surprised at what will happen.

Have a wonderful day,
God bless you and goodbye.
