He Wants Us

And a very good morning to you! It is Saturday morning, 2nd April, the year 2022. And this is your friend, Angus Buchan with a thought for the day.

“Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord,
Or as His counsellor has taught Him?”

Isaiah 40:13

Then we go straight to Romans, in the New Testament:

"For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counsellor?" "Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?" For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.”

Romans 11:34-36

God does not need us, no, He has everything, He is God - But He wants us. The Lord made us in His own image so that He might have fellowship with us. If we go to the first book in the Bible, Genesis 3:9, it is a very sad verse because this is what it says:

“God called to Adam, “Where are you?”

You see, God used to walk in the garden in the cool of the evening and have fellowship with Adam and Eve but when they fell into sin, He couldn’t find them because they were hiding. He created you and me in His own image. We don’t have to do anything, we just have to be there for Him. Remember the story of the two sisters, Mary and Martha? Martha was running around the house trying to get everything organised, Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening to Him and having fellowship with Him. Martha said, “Lord, can’t You tell my sister to help me?” He said, “But she has done a better thing.”

The Lord wants to spend time with us today. It is much more important to spend time with someone than to keep trying to do something for someone. Dad, your children want you! They don’t want what you can do for them. Mom, your husband needs you, not just your achievements! Sometimes you don’t even have to say a word, just spend time together before it is too late.

My old dad used to live just behind us in the cottage. Every single afternoon I would go up and I would sit there and we would chat with each other. My goodness, I miss those days! I have said it before, I would give a million rand to have a cup of tea with my old dad... But I have to wait now until I see him in Heaven. Don’t waste time today. Spend time with each other. Spend time with Jesus because He is waiting for you this morning.

God bless you and have a wonderful day.
Goodbye.
