Wait On The Lord

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 15th of October 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

There's a scripture that all of us know so well but we don’t always read it. Do we believe it? This is what it says:

“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

That is a beautiful scripture - to be still and to know that He is God. (Psalm 46:10.)

If you are going through a time at the moment when you feel down and you are a Christian, you love Jesus, you haven’t done anything wrong, you are just feeling absolutely flat, and it is like the devil himself is telling you all kinds of lies and you don’t know what to do. Physically, you are healthy, the business is going well, and the family is well but you just feel flat. Do you know that feeling? Oh yes! There are many, many mighty men and women of God, preachers of the Gospel who go through these times. C.H. Spurgeon was one, the prophet, John the Baptist went through that, and Elijah the Tishbite also went through times of depression and stress and also feeling worthless.

How do we handle a situation like that? Is that the time that we phone up our friends? No. Is that the time when we have to go to our Bible Study or the pastor or maybe wait for church? No. What do we do? We go into our quiet time room, that place where you sit quietly every morning and you spend time in the presence of God. It might be on top of a mountain, it might be in your tractor, or it might be when you are going for a jog. You need to get aside on your own, and then the Lord Jesus will start to remind you of all the good things that you have done. That’s right, the blessing you have been to so many people, to me, to your family and to your loved ones. Then when the devil comes to try and tell you lies, you don’t have to listen to him.

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
1 Corinthians 2:9

This is not the end of the road for you! This could be the beginning of the finest time in your life. It is not about your age, it is not about your qualifications. What it is actually about is spending time alone with God. He will lift you up. He will strengthen you and He will give you a new opportunity to serve Him. Do it today! Don’t neglect that quality time and quantity time with the Lord.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,
Goodbye.
