Wait On The Lord

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 9th of September, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We start in the Book of Zachariah 4:6:

‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
Says the Lord of hosts.”

You have often heard me say, “A good idea is not always a God idea.” In an emergency, we always want to make a plan, don’t we? And we hear people say, “Do something, do something!” Do you know that waiting on the Lord is doing something? Did you know that? Moses tried to help his people, the Israelites, by doing something, and it went badly wrong for him. It went from bad to worse. He tried to deliver his people out of slavery by his own influence, and when that didn’t work, he used violence. Remember, he killed a slave driver. I got that from “The Streams in the Desert”, that beautiful devotional. So Moses made a complete hash-up by trying to help people in his own strength, and he ended up having to flee for his life. He lived in the desert for 40 years, and for 40 years in the desert, the Lord changed his heart and completely changed his attitude of doing something to rather stopping and listening. And what happened? Yes, the Lord revealed Himself through the burning bush. Do you remember? And he gave instructions to Moses on what to do. When Moses approached Pharaoh, he came from a totally different viewpoint. He said, “Thus says the Lord, I AM has sent me to tell you to let my people go.

When we allow the Holy Spirit to direct our path, then things start coming into line very quickly. That beautiful scripture found in Romans 8:28:

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

That scripture is self-explanatory. When we stop making a plan, when we stop trying to do something and allow God to do it, all of a sudden, it works and becomes a beautiful plan. Today, stop doing something and start asking the Holy Spirit to direct you; you will find your life changed completely.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.
Goodbye.
