Home

A very good morning to you - I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 30th of September 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;
They will still be praising You.”

Psalm 84:4

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”

Mark 8:36

You and I need to stop chasing the wind and start building a real home. Even the swallow has a nest and the sparrow has found a home. Of course, we are not talking about bricks and mortar here, we are talking about relationships that make a home real.

After having left Zambia, 46 years ago, my greatest desire was to have my own farm once more, to build a home for my family. I thought having my own farm again would bring us joy, stability and security, but I was totally misled - It did the opposite. It caused immense stress and it put pressure on the whole family, especially my dear wife Jill. I was working 18 hours a day, telling the children and my family I was doing it for them - of course, I wasn’t, was I? No, I was trying to build my ego, but then we found our real home! Let's go back to that Scripture again:

“Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;
They will still be praising You.”

Psalm 84:4

Yes, we found Jesus. We found a church. We found caring, loving folks that nurtured us and built us and we are still in the home that lasts forever, and that is having a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and His people.

Today, set your sights on eternity and don’t spend so much time on things that are going to burn up and disappear.

Jesus bless you as you work on your family and your family relationships.
God bless you and goodbye.
