Doorkeepers

A very good day to you. It is the 1st of October 2022, it is Saturday morning, and I greet you in Jesus’ precious name.

“For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.”
Psalms 84:10

A doorkeeper is a servant and if we want to learn anything, we need to start serving. Joshua served Moses for 40 years before he took the mantle. Elisha would not leave Elijah even when Elijah told him to leave, furthermore, he wanted a double portion of the anointing that God had given Him! The greatest example of all is the disciples and our Lord Jesus. For three solid years, day and night, 24 hours a day, the disciples served the Master. He commissioned them and then they went out and performed signs and wonders and miracles. Why? Because they had been observing the Lord.

All I want to be is a doorkeeper in the House of the Lord. Can you imagine sitting and looking at the magnificence and the beauty of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, when we get to Heaven?

I remember hearing a story about a professional horse trainer who came out from overseas to teach us how to handle and train our horses. One would pay quite a large amount of money and that is fair enough because the man is very experienced. The horse trainer sits on a barstool in the ring and you get on your horse, and he teaches you for an hour, and then you pay him.

As the story goes, one young cowboy came in and spent a solid hour telling the horse trainer everything that he could do and everything that his horse can do. The old horse trainer being a wise man, put his hand out, took his money and said, “Well done, son.” The young man went off and never learned a thing.

Let's not be like that today. Let us be doorkeepers in the House of the Lord. Let's get mentors we can learn from and let us sit, listen and watch and learn.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful Saturday.
Goodbye.
