Seek First...
That was the request of Solomon to the Lord when the Lord said to him in verse 5:
“Ask, what shall I give you?” “I will give you anything you ask”
because He was so pleased with Solomon’s response. Because Solomon was not greedy, God gave him even more than he asked for. God appeared to Solomon in that dream and he could have had anything he wanted.
What about you and me today?
You see, because Solomon asked unselfishly, God gave him wisdom, riches and honour. The Bible tells us that the Queen of Sheba travelled from Ethiopia, 1 Kings 10:1 - That would have been about three months travel to meet this man that she had heard so much about. She tested him with some very hard questions and he answered them all. And then she said that the account that she had heard about Solomon was only half true because his wisdom and the prosperity exceeded what she had been told.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
And one of my favourite scriptures is found in 2 Chronicles 16:9 says:
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”
Father God is looking for trustworthy men and women who He can rely upon to be His agents here on earth.
A story:
A very rich man died, leaving a large art collection for auction. Well, the day arrived and before the bidding started the auctioneer said that according to the will, there was one painting that had to be auctioned first. It was a painting of his late wife... a very average painting indeed. No one bid for that painting but there was one godly man there, he put his hand up and he felt sorry for that deceased old art collector. He bid for it and he got it because no one else bid.
But there was a little letter attached to that painting. The auctioneer opened the letter and the letter stated, “Whoever buys this painting, can have the whole collection for free.”
Today, ask correctly. God will give you the desires of your heart.
Have a wonderful Sunday.
Goodbye.
