Discipline

In the book of Proverbs 13:24 (NKJV) the Bible states:

He who spares his rod hates his son,
But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.

The Message translations says, “A refusal to correct is a refusal to love; love your children by disciplining them”.

I want to say with almost tears in my eyes, it breaks my heart to see a undisciplined child running wild.  The child is a danger to himself and to those around him and the tragedy is, it is not his fault. The responsibility falls fairly and squarely on his father’s lap.  We need to obey the Word of God, not just the parts of the Word that suit us.  If you truly love the children God has given you to look after, you need to bring them up in a correct way, they cannot do what they want, because ultimately it destroys them.  Please discipline your children according to God’s principles.  I’m not talking about child abuse, I’m not talking about hurting your children. I’m talking about loving them by teaching them at a young age how to respect their elders, how to obey the law, how to be kind to those who are smaller and weaker than them and how to grow up in a godly manner, and they will live life to the full.
