The Promiser
F.B. Meyer, the great preacher, once said that we need to rely more on The Promiser (the Lord Jesus Christ) than the promise. Now, I think that is very profound. He uses the illustration found in Hebrews 11:8, which says quite clearly,
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
Faith in the Promiser, not in your destination. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, not in your marriage or in your degree or in your future business plans, but faith in God - “have faith in God.” Mark 11:22.
The Lord also says, in the book of Job 22:29 - “Jesus will save the humble person”. If you want anybody in your corner, the best person to have is none other than the Son of God. Now remember, He says He will save the humble person, which means if we are not humble, He will resist us, He will have nothing to do with us, we will be on our own. Now, we really need to be mature, and we need to man up, as they say, and realise that we can’t do it our way anymore, because it doesn’t work. We need to do it God’s way. The Bible says that God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble.
Jesus bless you
