Helper

If we look in the book of John 16:7 (NKJV):

Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

The word ‘Helper’ in the Greek is Paraklètos. Jesus went back to be with His Father so that He could send the Holy Spirit, and one of the titles of the Holy Spirit is Helper. He is there to help you and I to carry on living day by day in this difficult situation in which we find ourselves in these last days. Let us also not be selfish but help others so that the Lord can help us.

If we look in the book of 1 Corinthians 12:28, it talks about all the different ministries; apostles, prophets, teachers, and it talks about the ministry of ‘helps.’  It is vital that we don’t neglect this ministry.  It is the ministry that assists others to attain their goals.  I am busy reading a beautiful little book called, “The Gift of Helps,” written by Graham Lacey, and in it he stresses the importance of us helping one another to achieve our goals, whether it might be through prayer, whether it might be through a form of service, i.e. the washing of feet, or the taking care of one another, it is essential.

Jesus bless you
