Sons of Light
When we look around us and we turn on the television, our device, our laptop or read the newspapers, all we read about is darkness. If it’s not disease, it’s potential world war, if it’s not that it’s immorality, or it’s lack of respect for people. Everywhere we try and find some hope, we see just darkness, there is only one way… and the light of the world is Jesus Christ through His Holy Word.
I really want to encourage you to spend more time reading the Word of God, that will give you light, then you’ll be able to shine out for others that are groping in the darkness who do not know Jesus. In the gospel of John 12:35-36 (NKJV) it says:
Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.
There are so many who are walking in darkness. On Sunday, I was returning from a meeting that we had in Port Elizabeth area where we prayed for rain, and while sitting in the departure lounge and just waiting for my plane, I was just watching people. People are really struggling, young people, old people, you can see that they are stressed out and they are confused and most of all fearful. Now Jesus says in 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”. And I just saw the importance of just sitting there, not speaking, just being a light… and hopefully people see peace in our hearts, a purpose for living. Hopefully they see the group of us from Shalom totally focussed and the joy of the Lord, our strength. Nehemiah 8:10. So today, let your light shine wherever you go, whether it be in the Post Office, in the bank, in a grocery store, in the field, in the workshop, let your light shine because people need it desperately. Many have lost the way. We thank God for Jesus who is the Light of the world.
Jesus bless you
