The Steps of a Good Man

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand. Psalm 37:23-24

The Lord has promised us that if we walk in truth and righteousness, He shall delight in the road we are walking.  He says, even though we may fall, we shall not be completely cast down, because He shall uphold us with His hand.  There is nowhere in the Bible that says, come to Jesus and all your problems will be over.  We come to Jesus, and He walks with us through our problems, through our fiery trials. He promises if we keep our eyes on Him and keep walking in righteousness and don’t try to make our own plans, He will see us through.

I have studied the biographies of many great men and women of God, and you know, not one of them had a journey that did not have pitfalls, problems, persecutions and personal tragedies, not one. And yet because they kept their eyes fixed on Jesus Christ, the author and the perfecter of our faith, they finished the race. Hebrews 12:1 (NKJV) :

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before you.
