Sow Good Seeds

It is 9th November 2020, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.

If we go to the Psalms - Psalm 37 and verse 27, the Lord says:

“Depart from evil, and do good;

And dwell forevermore.

For the Lord loves justice,

And does not forsake His saints;

They are preserved forever,

But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off.”

The Lord wants you and me to walk the talk. He wants us to have a good testimony, to do good, and not to imitate evil.

The 3rd Epistle of John and verse 11 says:

“ Whoever does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.”

Sometimes you feel that you are of no worth.

“Lord, what am I doing on this earth?”

Well, I want to tell you a story of Robert Moffat. He founded the Kuruman Mission Station in the Northern Cape.

He took a trip back to Scotland. It took him over three months to get to Scotland to recruit missionaries to come to Africa, to tell the beloved people of Africa about Jesus Christ.

And he wasn’t having much joy at all but he was doing good.

And at a mid-week meeting with a few old white-haired ladies sitting in the front row of the church - praise God for the white-haired ladies! - he was sharing his vision but he didn’t see any strong young men to go to Africa, but you know folks, there was a 13-year-old boy who was operating the pump organ when they were singing hymns.

What was his name? That’s right - Dr. David Livingstone, probably the most famous missionary ever to set foot on Africa!

And he heard the message that night and made a decision to dedicate his life to Africa.

And what about that other story of an evangelist by the name of Mordecai Ham?

He was operating in the backwoods of America, preaching the Gospel.

What was he doing? He was doing good, and one night a sixteen-year-old boy, the son of a dairy farmer who wanted to become a professional baseball player, went to that meeting and he heard a feisty, fiery sermon by Mordecai Ham, and he stepped forward and gave his life to Jesus.

Who was that? That was Dr. Billy Graham, probably one of the greatest evangelists of all modern times.

Just do good. Have a good testimony. Sow good seeds and you will be surprised at how God is going to use you this week.
