Spend Our Lives On Others

If we look at the Book of Philippians, Chapter 2 and verse 4, the Word of God says:

“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests but also for the interests of others”.

You know our worst enemy is not the devil.

Our worst enemy is ourselves.

I am alright Jack.

I am looking after myself.

That is probably the worst outlook that any of us could look to.

It is some of the saddest people that I have ever met - are self-centered folk.

You know, Jim Elliot was a young 29 year old American who went to the Amazon Jungle with his young wife and his baby daughter in the 1950’s and he was taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Auca Indians and they murdered him.

He became a martyr and the whole world was absolutely devastated at this young man’s death.

Not only did he die but four of his friends with him as well, and through their death, tens of thousands of students all over the world went into the mission field.

They say that the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church.

And that young man wrote something that I have never forgotten.

He said, and I quote, “It is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”

We cannot keep our lives my dear friend.

We need to spend our lives on others so that we can attain eternal life that no-one can take away from us.

The Lord Jesus says in the Gospel of Matthew Chapter 40, “As much as you have done it unto the least of these, my brethren, you have done it unto me.”

So today if you are feeling a bit down, think of somebody else, write a letter, make a phone call, send a little WhatsApp and I can tell you what - you will feel a lot better after that.
