Anchor Of The Soul
If we go to the Book of Hebrews, Chapter 6 and verse 19, this is what the Word says:
“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast.”
Who do you put your hope in today?
Do you put your hope in yourself?
No, because you continue to disappoint yourself.
Do you put your hope in the government?
Do you put your hope in the economic system?
Do you put your hope in mankind?
No. You put your hope in God!
Why? Because the Bible tells us in verse 18 of Hebrews Chapter 6, that it is impossible for God to lie.
“God is not a man that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said and will He not do?
Or has He not spoken and will He not make it good?” The Book of Numbers, Chapter 23 and verse 19.
Our anchor is Jesus Christ alone and He will see us through.
You know, I looked up in the dictionary to get the definition of the word, “Hope”, and this is what it is: a person or a thing that gives cause for hope.
Well, our Person is Jesus Christ.
You know, Psalm 62, verse 5 says: “ My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation comes from Him.”
Now when do you put that anchor down?
You put the anchor down during the storm.
You know, I heard many years ago that if you get a flock of geese flying across the open sky and they see a storm coming, they will look for a lake or a dam, and they will settle on the lake, they will pull in their wings, they will face the storm and they will wait for the storm to pass by.
Oh my dear friend, you and I need to do that.
In the middle of the storm that we are facing in the world, it is not a time to start flying all over the place, to be like the waves of the sea, tossed to and fro by the wind. James, Chapter 1 verse 6.
Lets be like the geese and be wise.
Lets put our anchor down.
Let us face the storm and wait for it to pass and it will pass and then we can fly on, to that which God has called us to.
Have a wonderful sabbath day as you spend time, anchored into the Word of God.
