Strength for The Strain

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God
— Philippians 4:6

We need to stop worrying, we have got to take our problems to God.

If we look at Matthew 6:27, Jesus says: “Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?”

Rather take it to The Lord in prayer - Speak about your problem.

Have a good cry today, go for a walk.

You have got plenty of time on your hands, get it off your chest and then cast your cares upon Him because He really does care for you!

1 Peter 5:7

Worry is a source of anxiety, and anxiety makes you sick. Don’t listen to the lies of the devil, rather concentrate on the promises of God.

Remember Matthew 6:33, The Lord says:

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these (other) things shall be added to you.”

The English Standard Versions says: “And which of you being anxious, can add a single hour to his span of life?”

And the Message Translation says: “Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch?” I like that one.

The struggle that you and I are having is in the mind, it's not in the heart.

I remember having a real heart to heart chat with Jesus years and years ago, sitting on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River.

I was waiting for the ferry to come across and take the big truck, The Seed Sower (that huge twenty-ton, 18m truck) laden with Bibles, across the river into Zambia, for a six-week tour into the bush.

Jesus almost audibly said to me, when I was worried about my young family back on the farm in Zululand, my children were all at school, all five of them, and a very young wife looking after the farm, and I was about to go across the river into unchartered territory - and I was anxious.

And audibly, almost audibly, I remember The Lord saying, “I will give you strength for the strain.” Strength for the strain - and God will give you that on this Sunday as well. Just go and have a chat to Him and He will take away those worries, and you will have a clear mind, and He will show you exactly what you need to do next week.

God bless you and have a wonderful Sunday.
