Unto The Lord
“Brethren, let each one remain with God in that state in which he was called.”
Whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord. Let people see Jesus through your daily work. Many, I know, listening to this programme would say, “I want to go full-time for the Lord - I want to be a preacher, I want to be a missionary, an evangelist, a prophet...” But remember, it is your daily work that influences people, more than anything that happens on a Sunday morning.
Jesus Himself was a tradesman, he was a carpenter. Paul was a tentmaker, Peter a fisherman - I am talking about the giants of the faith! Jesus will not move you on until you are content with where you are placed, at this present moment.
You know, D.L Moody was one of the greatest evangelists who ever lived - He was a shoe salesman. Charles Finny was a great revivalist, he was a lawyer by profession. Smith Wigglesworth was a plumber - He was the man who prayed for people who were dead to be raised to life!
When I go overseas to preach when people invite me overseas and I arrive there, they don’t invite me because I am a great theologian, they invite me rather because I am a farmer. When I travel overseas to share God’s Holy Word, they don’t ask me for my preaching qualifications - just as well, fortunately! They ask me questions like,
How is your wife?
How are your children?
Are they still serving the Lord?
How are your grandchildren?
They ask, “How is the farm doing?”
How are the staff doing on your farm?
How is Simeon Bhengu doing?
They ask how the school on your farm is doing?” They don’t ask about what Bible College I went to. God will not move you until you are happy and content with where you are at present. You know John Wesley, he really impacted the world with a great revival. He always said his biggest influence came from his mother, Susanna. I think she had eighteen children if I am not mistaken. And the amazing thing was that John Wesley’s father was a clergyman. He was a padre and yet it was his mom that influenced him more than anyone else.
Go out today and it doesn’t matter what work or trade you represent. Do it as unto the Lord and you will impact people.
Have a wonderful day.
