On His Shoulders

What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
— Luke 15:4-5

Our God is the God of the individual.
Remember when the disciples had run away when Peter had denied Jesus, no less than three times - can you imagine how the Master must have felt? And Jesus knew that because He knew Peter very, very well.

He said, “Tell the disciples and Peter.” Why?
Because He knew that Peter wouldn’t come back, he felt so wretched.
Mark 16:7.

Our Lord Jesus knows how many hairs are on our head, He knows the colour of our eyes. I'm told there are approximately eight billion folks walking on the earth today and yet out of the eight billion souls you and I have fingerprints that are solitary and unique. No one else in the whole world has got the same fingerprints that you have got, or even close to that. Why? Because God made you very, very special.

Father God made us unique and that is why He loves you and me so much. Do you know that He sent His only Son, the Good Shepherd: Jesus, all the way down from Heaven to earth to find those who are lost. And by the way, I was a very lost sheep until Jesus found me.

You might feel lonely today, you might feel lost... You might feel helpless. Well, I want to tell you today, call out to the Good Shepherd and He will save and restore you, and He will put you back on the road that leads you safely home.

‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
Jeremiah 33:3

You know, maybe the average shepherd would be so angry because that lost sheep has run away. When he finds it maybe he ties a rope around its neck and tugs it all the way home... I don’t know - but not Jesus!

No, no, He puts us on His shoulders and He carries us home with great rejoicing.
Call unto Him today and He will lead you safely home.
