Be Still

“Be still, and know that I am God”
Psalm 46:10

And then we go to Mark 6:31:

“And He said to them, "Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while." For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves.”

It is time for you and me to take an account of our situation... Are you spending quiet time with God? You see, Jesus is still very much in control, irrespective of what the media might tell you. Did you see the sun come up this morning, my dear friend? Oh, it was magnificent!

Now, I don’t care whether you are in New Zealand, in the USA or bonny Scotland - The sun came up this morning, didn’t it? It was beautiful. Did you hear the heavenly orchestra that was playing first thing in the morning? Well, first on the agenda was the dove, shouting out, “Peace on earth!” Oh, I love that bird. Followed up by a troop of guinea fowl parading past the front of our garden... The mother showing her little ones where to find food, making one heck of a noise but it was beautiful. And then the shrill of a pair of eagles, they are nesting in a tree in our garden.

And then there was a huge flock of heavy-duty cargo planes that landed in the field next to our garden - Yes, I am talking about Spurwing Geese. Those birds must weigh at least 20lbs (10kg each) and they arrived in force. They came to eat the cattle feed in the troughs. Needless to say, the cows weren’t happy about that! And then to hear the faint call of the African Rainbird. The Zulu word for the Rainbird is umGugwane and we call him the Burchell's Coucal. He is a bird that sings the most beautiful music you have ever heard, especially in the ears of the farmer. 'Kukukuku' He says, “The rain is coming.”

I want to encourage you today, take time out to smell the roses because they won’t be there forever. Enjoy God’s creation today - It doesn’t matter where you are. He loves you, He wants to talk to you but please sit down with that cup of tea or cup of coffee and listen to His creation. Be still and know that He is God.

Have a wonderful day.
God bless you and goodbye.
