Merry Christmas

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name - I want to wish all of you a very blessed and peaceful Christmas in Jesus name! It is Sunday morning, that’s right, it is 25th December 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, wishing you a very, very, happy Christmas and bringing you a thought for today. We start off with Isaiah:

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” (Literally meaning, “God with us”).
Isaiah 7:14

Then we go straight to Matthew:

“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,”
Matthew 1:23

Which is translated as “God with us.” The miracle of Christmas - and what a miracle it is! Now, I looked up in the Oxford Dictionary to find out the literal meaning of the word, miracle. It means: "A welcome event that is so extra-ordinary that it is thought to be the work of God." That is in the dictionary. Now, what we must remember is that approximately 8 centuries, 800 years, before Jesus was born in the little town of Bethlehem in a stable, next to animals, in a manger which is a feed trough - it was already written in the Book of Isaiah. Now that is a miracle! Come on now... All the skeptics and doubters listening to this message today, how could that possibly be a coincidence?

What about the virgin birth? Ask any gynaecologist in the world and they will tell you that it is physically impossible for a young maiden, a young lady to fall pregnant without knowing a man... Yet Luke 1:37 says that with God nothing is impossible - That is why I love Him so much. You see, this is where our faith kicks in. It is the most beautiful story of documented truth ever told, the story of the nativity. It is harder to believe that the world was formed by a big bang, than to believe that Immanuel came down to earth in the form of the most beautiful baby boy.

I want to wish you a very special Christmas and that God would open your spiritual eyes to the miracle-working power of our Lord Jesus Christ. He loves you so much that He came to dwell amongst us. Have a very special Christmas with your family, spend lots of time together, rest in the Lord and enjoy this special day.

Jesus bless you and goodbye.
