Trust God's Promises

It is Monday morning. I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is the 26th of December, 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 
Hebrews 13:5 

What a beautiful promise of God. The promise of God is the only thing that we can truly rely upon. Our trust and our confidence must be built on Jesus alone. You know, we can’t even trust ourselves, can we? We don’t keep our word, the things we say we will do, we don’t do. So who can we trust? Well, we can trust in Jesus.  

Jesus says to us clearly in Matthew 11:28, 

“Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” 

Now that is a promise straight from the Lord Jesus Christ’s mouth, and when He says it, He means it and He will not fail you and He will not fail me. If we put our whole trust in God today, we shall never be disappointed. Ask God to give you a scripture verse for the coming year. That is what I do every single year. Read your Bibles systematically and God will show you a promise that He has given you, then stand by it and He will not fail you. C. H. Spurgeon, in one of his books says, ”On man’s word hang only what it will bear, on your own resolve, depend not at all. On the promise of God hang time and eternity, this world and the next, your all and the all of your loved ones.” Isn’t that beautiful?  

As we start looking forward now to the year 2023, our confidence is not in any man, in any organisation, in anyone’s opinion - solely on the Word of God. He will not fail you.
