Comforter

A very good morning to you! It is Monday morning, 6th June 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

If we go straight to Acts 2 and I am reading from verse 1:

“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

That’s right - Yesterday, Pentecost Sunday, the Helper came. Yes, He did!

He is known in Greek as Paracletos, the Helper. You know, Jesus said in John 16:7, it is to our advantage that He goes back to His Father so that He can send His Holy Spirit to comfort us, guide us in truth and give us His peace. I personally experienced an encounter with the Holy Spirit visiting us in Israel, at Ein Gedi, the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, on 30th September 2012, at approximately 9 o’clock in the evening, when I was speaking to a group of pilgrims who had come from all over the world. I am talking about something like eighty nations represented. It was hosted by the Christian Embassy from Jerusalem.

It was an encounter that I shall never, ever forget, as long as I live. There were about 5,000 delegates there and we all witnessed it together. I had read from Acts 2, as I have just done for you and then I said something. I said, “Lord Jesus, please do it again,” and a rushing mighty wind came from nowhere and just about blew us off the platform! Oh, my dear friend, He is the Comforter. I want to tell you today, to speak to Him. Allow Him to comfort you, to put His loving arms around you. You know, in my prayer room, I have got a little wood stove, here in South Africa we are in the middle of winter now and in the morning it is sometimes zero degrees, maybe one degree... and I come into this little prayer room and I start a little wood fire. It warms me, it comforts me and it brings me lots of joy. Let the Holy Spirit do that for you even today.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.
Goodbye.
