The Name

It is Tuesday morning, 7th June 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

If we go straight to the New Testament to Acts 3 and one verse - verse 16:

“And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong,…”

Acts 3:16

Remember Peter and John prayed for the lame man and he was healed, the people thought that he and John had done it? And they said, “No, no it wasn’t us. It was the power in the Name.” I want to say to you today that the power, hope and freedom are all in the Name, that’s right - The name is Jesus! He alone is the Savior of the whole world. You will find that in 1 John 4:14. His name means Immanuel: God with us, Matthew 1:23.

Oh, my dear friend, He is not 'the man upstairs', He is not 'my pal' or 'my mate', no - He is God made flesh! The Bible tells us that it is the Name which is above any other name and very soon every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Philippians 2:10. When I hear someone use my Savior’s precious name as a swear word, it cuts me right through to the very heart. Do you know that wars, that’s right, wars all over the world have taken place because of that Name? Do you know that millions of people have died as martyrs because they will not deny that name? That’s where the power lies. I have experienced it in my own life so many times.

It is Jesus who is the Miracle Worker. That is what Peter and John were trying to tell the people. “Jesus healed that man, not us.” You know, when I use that name, Jesus, and I ask Him to bring rain and He brings rain. When I ask Him to heal the sick and He heals the sick, it is the name, it is not somebody’s opinion. It's not even God because god is whoever you presume him to be... The god of your life could be the trees or nature or some other god. But when you mention the name of Jesus it is like everything becomes electric. People either hate or love you at that Name. What a gentle name as well - He is the friend of little children, He is the friend, that name, of old people, He is the Champion of the widow and the orphan.

Speak to Him today. I challenge you to tell three people today that Jesus is Lord. Have a wonderful day,
