Prince of Peace

And a very good morning to you! It is Sunday morning, 6th of March, the year 2022. And this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“Or let him take hold of My strength,
That he may make peace with Me;
And he shall make peace with Me.”

Isaiah 27:5

Then we go to Job 22:21:

“Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace;
Thereby good will come to you.”

And then of course the last one is a scripture we all know so well, found in John, Jesus says:

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

John14:27

Peace only comes to us when we acquaint ourselves with the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ Himself. They tell me that in the centre, in the heart of a vicious tornado or hurricane that is tearing houses and buildings up from their very foundations, there is absolute peace and calm. You see, peace comes from within and not from the outside.

When I was a young man and I had to leave Zambia and sell my farm. My whole ambition was to own a farm one day in South Africa and I thought that if I owned that farm it would bring me peace. You know, I almost worked myself to death trying to get that farm. Eventually, I did manage to secure the farm but at a tremendous cost. But there was absolutely no peace in my heart, in fact the opposite was the case… I had come to the end of myself.

I then reached out for Jesus and found real peace for the first time in my life. And we call this little farm, Shalom. My wife actually thought of the name and we weren’t even Christians then. Of course, Shalom means peace and many people have found peace in this place.

I want to pray for you on this Sunday morning because maybe you are troubled in your spirit, maybe you are fearful. Let us pray. Please pray this prayer after me:

Dear Lord Jesus,

Today, I am anxious, I am fearful and I am stressed. I really need Your peace in my life. I have to make big decisions and I don’t know which way to turn so I am turning to you today, Lord Jesus, on Sunday 6th March. I am asking You to come into my life and give me Your peace.
Amen.
