When it Feels Unfair
A very good morning to you, I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, 19th of September, 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. If we go to the first Book in the Bible, Genesis, and the last chapter:
“Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.”
Genesis 50:19
I can hear you sitting there this morning listening to what Joseph, the son of Jacob, said to his brothers when they had sold him out - sold him into slavery, and I can hear you saying, “But it is not fair.... I was sold-out as well. My business partner let me down. My wife, was unfaithful to me or I was falsely accused at work for something I never did - Where are You, Lord Jesus? Well, to me, Joseph was one of the most amazing role models in the whole Bible. He was sold into slavery as a young boy by his own flesh and blood, his brothers. His brothers cheated him, they even went back and told their father that wild animals had killed him... But God was with Joseph. When he finally got an opportunity for revenge, what did he do? He forgave them and acted kindly towards them.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
Romans 8:28
That is a powerful scripture. You see, because of Joseph’s heart - kind, forgiving and an understanding heart, God promoted him and made him second only to Pharaoh, who at that time, was the most powerful man in the known world. Do not allow that unfair incident to muddy or poison your heart. Give it to Jesus and move along, it is He who will justify you.
God bless you and have a wonderful Monday.
Goodbye.
