In a Rush?

I greet you in Jesus’s precious name! It is Tuesday morning, 26 July 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

If we go to the Old Testament, to Deuteronomy:

“Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses.”

Deuteronomy 34:9

We need to take time to prepare ourselves for the work that we have been called to. Jesus, the Son of God, Immanuel, God with us - He prepared Himself for 30 years to do 3 years' work here on earth. Luke 3:23.

Why are you and I in such a terrible rush about things?
You know, we talk about the Joshua generation - the young generation. I want to tell you something, Joshua took over from the Moses generation when he was about 80 years old! He served Moses and learned from Moses... He walked with Moses for approximately 40 years before he took over to lead the nation of Israel into the Land of Milk and Honey. We need to be more patient. You see, it is Satan, the devil himself who keeps us on the run, not Jesus.

My wife's mom and dad came and lived with us for many years after they had retired. They lived with us on the farm, her dad was a steam engineer by profession. These men took a long time to learn the work that they had been taught. He was very handy with tools. One day he walked into the workshop and he saw me trying frantically to cut a piece of steel with a hacksaw. He said to me, “Why don’t you use the whole saw blade when you are cutting and let it do the work for you instead of using the middle of the blade? Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States, was a country boy. He was asked a question, “How would you go about cutting down a large tree with an axe if you were given 6 hours to do it? He said, “I would use the first four hours sharpening the blade.”

Today, let's not be in such a rush. Let us learn from Jesus how to walk this road - it will be a lot simpler than we are trying to do at the moment. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.

Goodbye.
