Genuine Parts

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

Why is it that whenever we get into deep trouble we seem to call upon everyone else first, and then when no one can help us, as an absolute last resort, we call upon the Living God?

The quick fix never lasts. Just like purchasing a pirate part for your motor vehicle. It is quick, available and cheap, but it does not last. Eventually, it will probably let you down. With the genuine part for your vehicle, it will take longer because it needs to be ordered from the manufacturer. It will be more expensive, but it will probably last the lifetime of the motor car.

Jesus knows you and me better than anyone else on earth because He created us. He will get us out of trouble. He will deliver us if we call upon Him. We might not like the way He wants to fix us because His "parts book" is the Bible. He might say, “You need to stop smoking, you need to stop drinking, you need to stop taking drugs.” He might say, “You need to stop worrying and stressing”.

Jesus told the rich young ruler what to do to inherit eternal life. We can read that in Luke 18:18, but the young ruler would not do it. The Bible told us he became very sorrowful and walked away to a lost eternity. A preacher once told me he thought that Jesus would be standing there with tears running down His face. He didn’t say to the young ruler, “Come back and let's talk about this.”

No, He left him to make his own choice. Don’t do it. Obey the manufacturer.
