Restoration

I greet you in Jesus’s precious name! It is Monday morning the 1st of August 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“For thus says the High and Lofty One
Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,
To revive the spirit of the humble,
And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

Isaiah 57:15

What a beautiful comfort that is... Then we go to the New Testament to the Gospel of Matthew:

“And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So he went out and wept bitterly.”

Matthew 26:75

When we make a mistake, our Lord Jesus does not write us off like the world does. If we are truly sorry and we humble ourselves, He will forgive us and more than that - He will restore us completely. I looked up the word contrite, in the Oxford Dictionary. It means feeling or expressing remorse. When we feel we have let the team down, that we have let the show down, when we have blown it completely - That is when Jesus can step in and do His beautiful work of restoration. Jesus not only forgave Peter for denying Him three times but He went ahead and made him the head of the early church. What incredible love and forgiveness.

Jesus sees the potential in you and I this morning. He sees past the mistakes we make, He sees what we can do. What He wants us to do today is to repent. What does that mean? To say sorry - “Lord, I am so sorry.” Peter wept, he was so broken. And the Lord says, “Get up and keep on going.” Father God will restore us because He believes in us.

Remember, He took a shepherd boy and He made him a king. He took a broken down fisherman and made him head of the church and He can take you and me today and restore us completely, if we just say sorry, remain humble and keep on going.

Have a wonderful Monday today.
Jesus bless you and goodbye.
