The Power of Prayer

A very good morning to you. I greet you in Jesus’ name today.
It is Wednesday morning, 3rd August 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church...Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands.”
Acts 12:5-7

“…pray without ceasing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17

The power of faithful prayer! There is an old saying that goes like this,

“When men work, they work but when men pray, God works.”

I am very blessed. This ministry at Shalom has got up to 3000 intercessors praying around the world. That is incredible, it makes me want to weep. When people ask me, “What can we do to help?”, there is one word only, “Please pray.” That is what I am looking for - prayer, because I know I have experienced the power of faithful prayer.

One old gentleman who has gone to be with Jesus, David Kain, said to me once, “Angus I am getting old now. I can’t go down the well anymore but I can hold the rope at the top.” He could pray and he did. Billy Graham, the famous evangelist, was asked if he had to live his life over again, what would he change? This is what he said, “I would pray more and speak less.” Why don’t we do that today? Why don’t we pray about the issue that is troubling us and ask the Lord Jesus to break those chains. “What chains?” you are asking. Chains of fear, sickness and poverty that are holding us back, that relationship that you can’t resolve - pray about it. If they don’t want to speak to you. Pray! God will move them. He can even take a man out of prison. By the way, in that prison Peter had a soldier on either side of him and four detachments guarding it and he was released because the church prayed. You and I are the church. That disobedient child that just will not listen - start to pray! God will move mountains for us.

Have a blessed day and remember, pray without ceasing.
Goodbye.
