Family
I greet you in Jesus’ precious name. It is Thursday morning, 4th August 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have
become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and
dine with him, and he with Me.”
Revelation 3:20
We need to remember that the handle of the door is on the inside. Jesus is standing outside and He is waiting for you and I to open the door so that He can come in and eat with us. What favour we have when we open the door of our lives and let our blessed Saviour in. We don’t have to work for it. We don’t have to earn it. It is because we are His, and He is ours.
‘My beloved is mine, and I am his.”
Song of Songs 2:16
Do we have to ask our mom or our dad if we can have something to eat? Surely not, we are their children. All my children have grown up and have left home. They have families of their own but they still come to our house any time they want and can help themselves to anything they need. We have one particular son who frequents us quite regularly and goes straight to his mother’s cupboard. By the way, he is married with three children of his own. He pops in to say, “Hello” and he knows where all the biscuits and the Cokes are and whatever else he likes. Then, of course, I come in a little bit later and I say to Jill, “What happened to all the biscuits and all the Cokes?” And she said, “Well, your son came to see you.” The problem is that everything he likes, I like too. I wonder who brought him up?
But seriously, Jesus wants you to know that we are family and you can go to Him with any problem and with any need you have and speak with Him.
I just love it in the morning, sitting and talking with the Saviour of the world saying, “Lord, these are my problems, these are my needs,” and I know He welcomes me to talk to Him because He is my Father and I am His son. Why don’t you do the same? Instead of running here and there, to and fro to people that you don’t know very well, why don’t you take it to your Father. Sit down quietly and let Him put you on His lap, put your head on His big ample chest and tell Him what your needs are and He will take care of you.
Jesus bless you and have a lovely day.
Goodbye.
