Jesus Is The Way

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning. It is the 27th of April, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We start in the Gospel of John 14:5-6

“Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?" “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Jesus is the way, and that way will lead us safely home. You will not have to go down a one-way street, a cul-de-sac, and then have to turn around and then come back up again to where you started. You will not get bogged down and stuck in the mud. Yes, it might be a narrow way, it might be a steep way and there may be few people on that road, it might get a bit lonely but I want to tell you it will lead you to eternal life. Most of all, it leads us home. You and I have to move more slowly, we have to move more surely, to get to Heaven.

You know, just the other day, I was up in the Mighty Drakensburg Mountains again. What a majestic place. It is a place where the eagles fly. It has never changed since the time the Lord created the earth, and walking along one day, I was praying and seeking the face of the Lord Jesus Christ. As I was walking along this narrow contour path, there was a notice carved into the side of the path. It said, “Avoid short-cuts, they cause erosion.” I want to say to you my dear friend, there are no shortcuts to Heaven.  

The shortcut is hardly ever the quickest way home. Follow the Master, He will take you home because He has been this way before!
