Moving Forward
I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 31st of December, 2022, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
The last day of 2022! Some people will say, “I am so glad about that!”. Aah, but the Lord has got plans for us my dear friend. You know, as I am recording this message for you, yes, you can hear it - the rain is falling on my tin roof. What a blessing for any farmer! We start off with Matthew 8:22:
“But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
Now that scripture is quite a controversial scripture and I just hope you get the true meaning of what Jesus meant. He meant we are not going to hang around and cry over spilt milk. We are going to press on, a new year is beckoning and we are going to be up for it and ready for it.
“But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Luke 9:62
We need to keep moving forward. You know, the sailing ship that is moored in the harbour is going nowhere. You and I need to get out to the big seas, and even if the wind is contrary and blowing the wrong way, a good sailor will tack back and forth and he will still get to his destination, but if you are sitting snugly in that harbour and not moving, you will die there. We need to move forward.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
Proverbs 29:18
Now, if we aim at nothing, we are sure to hit it. 2022 was a wonderful year but by faith, we are believing that 2023 is going to be a much more successful year. I would advise you to spend a moment today with Jesus, our great architect and ask Him to give us a game plan for next year - a short-term plan for the immediate needs and a long-term plan for where you are hoping to arrive eventually, then write it down and stick to it.
If you go to that beautiful scripture in the Book of Habakkuk, right at the end of the Old Testament, you will find that the Lord says, very clearly,
“Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, (you must be patient) wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.”
Habakkuk 2:2-3
Have a very blessed and peaceful New Year and Lord-willing, I will walk with you every, single day this coming year.
Jesus bless you and goodbye.
