Walk By Faith

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 1st of January, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

I want to start by wishing you a very blessed and peaceful New Year. May God bless you and your loved ones richly this year.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:8

Let this be a year that you and I walk by faith and not by sight. Remember, we can’t please God without faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says we are walking by faith and not by sight. Let's stop questioning God this year and start believing Him. Remember, Augustine said, “Faith is to believe what you cannot see but the reward of that faith is to see what you believe.” This year let us unconditionally believe and trust the Lord.

Do you remember Job, the farmer? He was asking lots of questions of the Lord. I just love it in chapter 38 - maybe sit down quietly and read that chapter, starting from verse 3. He says:

“Now prepare yourself like a man;
I will question you, and you shall answer Me.”

I just love that. The Lord says:

“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding.
Who determined its measurements?”

He goes on and on, and of course, Job just got smaller and smaller as God got bigger and bigger!

A very beautiful devotional written by a lady who has long since gone to be with the Lord, Mrs. Kelman, said and I quote:

“In the pathway of faith, we come to learn that the Lord’s thoughts are not our thoughts, nor His ways our ways, both in the physical and spiritual realm. Great pressure means great power. Although circumstances might bring us into the place of death, that need not spell disaster, for if we trust in the Lord and wait patiently, that simply provides the occasion for the display of His almighty power. “

Have a very special year as you walk by faith. Do you remember that old song?

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone,
And because I know, yes I know,
He holds the future, and life is worth the living
Just because He lives.

Happy New Year! Jesus bless you and goodbye!
