No Time To Waste
A very good morning to you - I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 4th of January, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
“… it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.”
Romans 13:11
“Do you not say, "There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!”
John 4:35
There is no time to waste. Do not put off for tomorrow what we can do today. Optimum timing, perfect timing - as a farmer, I can tell you, if you plant that crop late because you have been dragging your heels, and you haven’t prepared your machinery in time, that harvest will still be green when it is time for reaping. Then what happens? Eventually, when the harvest ripens, the spring rains arrive and they spoil the crop and it rots in the ground. Do not waste time today. That is what the Lord is telling us.
I remember a few years back, a very dear member of our family, an old gentleman, we knew that one of these days he would go home to be with Jesus. He loved the Lord. One evening, I was about to go and have a shower after work and I felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to get in my pick-up and drive over to his farm. I said to my wife, Jill, “I am going right away. I just feel the Lord prompting me to go and pray with him." I drove straight over to that farm, it took me about forty-five minutes. When I arrived, his family was around him and they were sitting quietly and he was very restless. I came and I laid my hands on him and I prayed that the peace, the shalom of Jesus, would come upon him. With that I said goodbye to the family, I said goodbye to him, I got in my pick-up and I drove home.
When I arrived home I was met with the news that the old gentleman had been promoted. He had gone home to be with Jesus.
Do not leave off for tomorrow what you can do today. Sort out that relationship. Phone that person, write an email but don’t leave it because time is passing us by and Jesus is coming very soon.
God bless you and goodbye.
