Set Free

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 6th of May, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”
Galatians 5:1

Another translation says, “Christ has set us free to live a free life, so take your stand. Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.” 

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”  
John 8:32

Folks, if anyone be in Christ Jesus, they are a new creation, old things have passed away and behold all things have become new. Let us not be deceived by the system of the world and get caught in slavery, trying to earn our way to Heaven. We can’t do it. It is by grace. It is by undeserved loving kindness that Jesus has set you and me free. 

“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” 
John 17:17

The Word of God is the Bible and that is what sets us free. Believe what it says in the Bible and not what other people tell you. We are free from being slaves to the law. The devil is the abuser. He always says, “You are a waster, you will never make it”, but it is the Lord Jesus who overcame the devil in the wilderness. How did He do it? He said, “It is written…” He did it by quoting the Word of God. Now, let's not go back into bondage. We are not going back to Egypt. We are not going back to our past life. There is nothing there for us. We are free. Don’t let the lies of the devil trip us up again.  

I want to give you an example. My son is a cattle farmer. He has got big bulls on his farm, some of them weigh over a ton. We put up an electric fence, it is one strand of wire, and that is all it is. It is electrified by the battery of a motor car, a small little battery with a little trickle going through it. It's so small that it won’t even harm a little child if that child touches that wire, and yet, the lies of the devil are holding you and me back, the same way as that little strand of wire is holding a one-ton bull back, from walking across the wire and into a lush field of fresh green grass. He won’t go through because he believes that it will kill him if he goes through there.

I want to say to you today, you are free. Do not be entangled by the things of this world. Trust the Lord and he will undertake for you and give you life abundantly.
